To mark the end of a month of Ramadan and the day of Eid al-Fitr, writing workshops and outdoor games were organized in the heart of the Azraq Syrian refugee camp for children. The objective is to bring smiles back to these populations in a context of distance from their country of origin.

But beyond the entertainment activities organized by the camp administrators, the day was marked by the distribution of new clothes and cash for the parents of these refugee children. “ Our first mission is to make refugees, especially children, smile during these joyful religious occasions. “, explains Ahmed Bard, one of the camp administrators.

The Azraq Syrian refugee camp began welcoming refugees for the first time in 2013 and has around seven thousand families. Among them, 60% are children, according to data from the camp administration.
