In Japan only every fifth high school boy has kissed

In Japan, only about one in five high school boys has experienced a first kiss, he says The Guardian magazine. About girls a good quarter had kissed. For example, in 2005, about half of the students had kissed.

A study by the Japanese Sexuality Education Organization was conducted in 2023. In it, young people aged 15–18 also reported a decrease in dating and sex experiences.

Experts estimate that young people distance themselves from real physical contact and that this may even affect the country’s birth rate.
