Six weeks before the early elections, the polls confirm the overwhelming advance of the right-wing coalition. The latest survey published on Tuesday August 9 credits the team largely dominated by the far right with 45% of the vote. Opposite, the parties of the left and the center fail to agree.
The leader of the Italian left, Enrico Letta, may well invoke the need for a republican pact, he has not managed to bring together in the same coalition the formations capable of standing up to the extreme right. However, without a coalition, no victory is possible.
Facing him the coalition of the rights, solid, largely dominates in the surveys with 45 to 46% of the voting intentions. The Brothers of Italy party, heir to the Italian fascist movement, is the first in the coalition, followed by the League of Matteo Salvini and lastly the party of Silvio Berlusconi. The dissensions that exist, in particular on Europe, have been left aside.
If the leader of the 5 Star Movement Giuseppe Conte still inspires confidence in voters according to the SWG research institute, his party is in free fall. And the favorite among the main party leaders is Giorgia Meloni, leader of the Brothers of Italy party.
For observers the question is no longer whether the coalition led by the extreme right will win, but with what extent it will win the election on September 25.
