The Indian Meteorological Institute announced on Wednesday that 2024 was the hottest year in more than 120 years. The last time the average temperature was higher was in 1901.
The rise in temperature in the world’s most populous country is part of global climate change, which has led to an increase in average temperatures around the globe.
The average temperature measured in India last year was 0.65 degrees higher than the 1991-2020 average, the Indian Meteorological Institute said.
