In his best role in over 20 years, Nicolas Cage is looking for a pig for 92 minutes

In his best role in over 20 years Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage is a mystery to many. How can the same star who won an Oscar in 1995 for Leaving Las Vegas star in disastrous flops like Grand Isle? But every few films there is an absolute gem, a masterpiece in which he shows that he can shake the Oscar potential out of his pocket at any time. The latest example is Pig, which is now available to stream on Netflix.
On Netflix: Nicolas Cage in search of pigs captivates in just 5 minutes

Pig is about the ex-star chef Rob (Cage), who lives deep in the forest with his truffle pig. When his animal friend is stolen from him, he returns to the big city of Portland after years to follow the kidnappers’ trail. He once again encounters a milieu that once celebrated him as a culinary visionary.

Pig has a lot of great script ideas, including one Fight club for chefs in Portland’s underworld. But even more impressive is the space that director Michael Sarnoski gives his leading actor, so that Cage can develop his best drama qualities.

In one scene, for example, he visits a former student’s successful star restaurant. Dirty and unkempt, he rejects any pity and attacks his host for his existential sell-out. The scene only lasts a few minutes and will delight any Cage fan.
