In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), there is less than a week left before the general elections on December 20. This is the home stretch of preparations for the Céni, the Independent National Electoral Commission (Céni).
In particular, it is currently providing training for agents of voting centers and results compilation centers. Céni rules prohibit agents from responding to interviews. But the training courses are open to the press, like that at the primary application school of the Goma Institute where 45 agents from the future local results compilation center simulate the progress of their mission: after the counting in the offices of vote, they will centralize, compile, verify and transmit the results.

Each agent is assigned a mission
The task is not simple since there are four votes at the same time: a presidential election and legislative, provincial and municipal elections. Agents must therefore be scrupulous to avoid hiccups.
“ This stage, where we are, the documents which are intended for collation are where? Where are they ? So you haven’t sent anything for sorting because you haven’t found the packages that are intended for collation. That is the problem. You understood ? », says a trainer.
After the vote, these agents will take turns night and day to go through the ballots, the minutes of each office, and the digital results from the voting machines. Each agent is assigned a mission. “ My job will be to first categorize the items according to the recipients.details one of them. There are the antenna areas, there are the competent jurisdiction areas and then the others. So, I will check on Annex 3 if all the folds are compliant, and then I will transmit them “.
The Ceni will have until December 30 to announce its provisional results.
