The VZBV association is concerned about the abuse caused by the cameras of Elon Musk’s electric cars. Tesla customers are not told that using sentry mode, in which cameras monitor the car’s surroundings, violates European data privacy laws, the organization says.

In the new models of the manufacturer, cameras film what is happening inside, but also outside, so as to allow monitoring of the vehicle when stationary. For the association, users of this function ” should obtain the consent of passers-by near the car for the processing of their personal data “. It is therefore ” practically impossible to comply with data protection regulations while using this feature, and drivers risk fines added the organization.

She also criticizes Tesla’s advertising on the absence of CO2 emissions from its vehicles. In reality, the company resells its rights to pollute its emissions to other manufacturers, criticizes the consumer protection association, which would have brought in $ 1.6 billion for Tesla in 2020.
