After two presidential elections without a Communist candidate, the deputy for the North intends to rekindle the flame of the PCF in 2022. This Wednesday, January 2, he was in Gennevilliers, in the Paris suburbs.
For months, Fabien Roussel has been traveling the country to voice his program based on the defense of workers, French production and public services. He wishes to do so relive the communist vote in the next ballot, that’s in any case the challenge he hopes to win.
” The regularization of all the undocumented workers in our territory, we must do it! », He exclaims to Gennevilliers. Meeting with African workers struggling for their residence permit, precarious retirees, dismissed workers… It’s a campaign day that ticks all the boxes of the Fabien Roussel project
” It is important to me for a communist presidential candidate to defend the rights of workers, wherever they come from », He declares.
The candidate has a mission, to prove that the Communist Party still has a voice to be heard. And for that, nothing like a trip to Gennevilliers, one of the last strongholds of the PCF. Here, some want to believe it, like Gisèle, a local activist: “ The state of mind, the climate today, is not at all what it was two months ago “.
The goal? Do better than in 2007
In fact, voting intentions have been tremor for a few weeks. And coincidence? Several controversies from the left have targeted him in recent days. ” It’s a good sign, you have to attack me more besides », He laughs.
But beyond the party, the Roussel line is struggling to seduce. This is particularly the case of Françoise, yet a former communist activist: ” I cannot support someone who is for nuclear power. And hey, he has a little frank side all the same … And there I have the impression that we are still in the twentieth century. “
Can vintage fashion save the Roussel candidate? At the PCF, only one objective is posted, to do better than the 2% obtained in 2007.
