In France, trains will run normally again on Monday, the state railway company SNCF said on Saturday. There were extensive disruptions in bullet train traffic on Friday, the cause of which is suspected to be arson. The perpetrators of the suspected arson and the motive are still to be determined, says the French newspaper Le Monde.
SNCF announced on Saturday that seven out of ten trains ran on the three most central routes on Saturday. The railway company also said that the supervision of the train network had been intensified.
The railway company estimates that around 250,000 passengers suffered from disruptions on Friday. In addition, about 160,000 of the weekend’s 800,000 passengers were said to have had to cancel their trip or were delayed.
The rail disruptions in France are also reflected in train traffic between London and Paris. Eurostar announced that around a fifth of its weekend train services would be canceled and that all trains would be delayed by around 1.5 hours, the BBC reported.
