In-form Detroit turned around and won away to Toronto

During the night’s only game from the NHL, Detroit visited Toronto. The audience got to see a couple of Swedes find the back of the net and it was Pontus Holmberg who opened the scoring in the first minute of the second period when he headed in 1-0.

But neither Holmberg’s second goal of the season nor the monster save from the home team’s Russian goalkeeper, Ilya Samsonov (see clip above) was enough to score points.

Shapely Detroit

Detroit turned a 1-2 deficit into a 4-2 victory in the third period when Lucas Raymond put the nail in the coffin on an open box with 19 seconds left to play.

The loss was Toronto’s third in a row, while Detroit is going strong at the moment. Five wins now in the last six games.

“Played great”

Detroit’s 35-year-old goalkeeper, James Reimer, has previously played over 200 games for Toronto. He played a major role when this victory was salvaged and was celebrated by his teammates afterwards.

– Reimer came in tonight and played fantastic, his best game of the season. We knew it was special for him to come back to this arena, Dylan Larkin said after the victory NHL.com.

Reimer himself about the special match:

– It is a true blessing that we get to perform a sport as our work. Sometimes there are extra special nights and this was one of those.
