Son Goku has found his wife for life in Chi-Chi. The two have two children over the course of Dragon Ball: Son-Gohan and Son-Goten. But when fathering the children, Son Goku seems to have left out one thing, which Vegeta is extremely surprised about.
Why doesn’t he know what kissing is? In the 60th episode of the Dragon Ball Super anime, Trunks gives a magic bean to Mai. He chews the bean in her mouth, transfers it to the unconscious Mai and saves her.
The scene is watched by Son Goku and Vegeta. This leads to a funny dialogue, which you can watch in English in the following YouTube video:
Son Goku asks what Trunks would do because he would press his lips to Mai’s. Vegeta is shocked that Goku doesn’t know what kissing is. After all, he is married and has two children.
Son Goku simply replies what that has to do with kissing. He wasn’t sure if that was something other people would do. Vegeta then ends the conversation – visibly irritated.
Incidentally, Dragon Ball is currently not being continued with Super, but with Daima:
Goku and Vegeta’s dialogue could be a misunderstanding
Has Son Goku never kissed anyone? In the first comment below the YouTube video, a user explains that this was a misunderstanding and could have been lost due to the English dubbing.
In the Japanese original, Son Goku is said to have been much more surprised that the bean could be passed on by pressing their mouths together. He thinks about feeding bird chicks.
However, Vegeta thinks he means kissing. However, the word kissing is never mentioned in the dialogue between the two, which is why the two would not notice that they are talking about two completely different things. So Son Goku just doesn’t understand what feeding by mouth has to do with his marriage.
According to user betaruga (via tumblr) this is due to the Japanese language. Such misunderstandings might be more common because the Japanese often imply the context of the conversation. So two people talk about two different things because they don’t say it out loud but think it’s the same topic.
Speaking of Bulma, she changed her hair color several times in both the anime and manga. But this isn’t supposed to be due to dyeing, but rather due to something else: Dragon Ball: Bulma and her children constantly change their hair color – although according to the manga, only one is correct
