According to a report published by the UN, gunmen attacked civilians more than 2,400 times in Colombia last year.
At least 73,974 Colombians were forced to flee their homes last year due to violence, as attacks on the civilian population increased by more than a third from the previous year.
About 53,000 of the people who fled have not been able to return home.
The report is based on a report on Colombia published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on Wednesday.
– It should be noted that the main reason for refugees in Colombia is the activities of non-state armed groups against civilians, the report states.
According to OCHA, there were more than 2,400 cases of violence against civilians by Colombian groups last year.
There are still rebel groups in Colombia that did not accept the 2016 peace agreement between the government and the FARC rebels. The country’s largest drug cartel, Clan del Golfo, is also fighting for control of the territories with the rebels and the country’s armed forces.
In Colombia, violence related to rebel forces and later drug trafficking has continued for nearly six decades and has claimed the lives of more than 260,000 people.
