With Season 1 came the Battle Pass in CoD: Black Ops 6, which offers players a number of rewards. However, if you dig deeper into your pockets, you can secure permanent XP bonuses. That doesn’t go down well with some fans.
What should you spend money on? There are two different types of Battle Pass in CoD: BO6. The normal version costs around €10, the large version called “BlackCell” costs a mere €30. In the BlackCell Pass you get, among other things:
In addition to the bonuses that you can unlock by playing matches, you also receive a “loyalty bonus” on top. The more often you buy the expensive BlackCell pass in the coming seasons, the bigger XP bonuses you will get.
What bonuses do you get? With every new season in CoD: BO6 there is a fresh BlackCell Pass. The more often you buy the pass in the coming seasons, the bigger XP bonuses you will receive for your player level and your weapons. You will only get the XP boost of 10% if you buy the BlackCell Pass in two seasons.
A post on X shows the bonuses at a glance. The developers write: “New BlackCell loyalty bonus: Players who purchase two (or more) BlackCell seasons in #BlackOps6 will receive an additional 10% player and weapon XP boost, which stacks with each additional season purchased .”
“The price makes it easy to do without”
What do the players say about this? The “loyalty bonus” is not well received by many CoD: BO6 players. In a post on Reddit, KNEXIUM writes that this is “really disgusting and disrespectful.” And DisaronnoSwigs comments: “God I hope people realize soon and stop spending money on things that offer nothing of value in return.”
Others don’t find the BlackCell Pass worth it aside from the XP bonuses. RedEye-55 writes: “In my opinion, the BlackCell items don’t even look appealing. The price makes it even easier to pass up.”
Some people find the “loyalty bonus” not so crazy and note: You don’t have to buy the pass. wetmeatlol thinks it’s cool for the people who plan on buying BlackCell every season anyway. This is an additional bonus for them. “The only ridiculous part of this to me is that you get the highest XP boost at the end of the game’s lifecycle, when most people are already (almost) max level,” he adds in the comment.
Why are XP bonuses helpful? Collecting XP plays a big role in Black Ops 6, because in the new prestige system you can reach the max level of 55 at each prestige level and then ultimately grind up to 1,000 additional levels as a prestige master .
With each level you unlock weapons, perks and kill streaks, which you lose again when you advance in the prestige level. Then the grind starts all over again. Although you keep the weapon levels that you have unlocked, you only get some weapons when you reach a high level.

At the beginning of Season 1, the developers introduced a small error with the XP bonuses. Suddenly players had hundreds of XP tokens, which were apparently carried over from previous CoD parts in Black Ops 6. After this was noticed, the error was patched out. After strong reactions from the community, the developers announced that they are working on a solution. Until then, they advised simply activating the tokens in Warzone, which would then apply to the entire game. With the bonuses from the BlackCell Pass, players can level up faster and get the powerful weapons again – if they want to spend the money.
