In Calais, “Mamie Brigitte” recharges migrants’ batteries

In New Caledonia the population suffers the exactions of delinquents

To support migrants in Calais, Brigitte Lips has welcomed them into her garage since the 2000s, to recharge cell phones, batteries and sometimes also to boost morale. We also call it “Mamie Charge”. Her story inspired two journalists, who ended up convincing her to tell her life story in a book that was recently released by Salvator Editions entitled Mamie Charge, a life serving migrants. She was the guest of RFI at the microphone of Charlotte Idrac.

Brigitte Lips, a resident of Calais, talks to migrants before recharging their mobile phones, on November 10, 2014 in Calais.
