In a way the journey home is easier

The early season of the Kuopio Football Club in the Veikkausliiga football has been strong. According to coach Simo Valakari, the team has not considered winning or losing tubes, as every match is an opportunity for it.

KuPS continued its convincing skies in the Veikkausliiga football by winning the AC Oulu away team 3–0 (1–0). The victory was already the 29th consecutive loss-free match for the people of Kuopio, and it rose alongside the Oulu Palloseura to share the record of consecutive loss-free matches.

OPS played 29 consecutive loss-making matches in the 1980s and 1981. KuPS has a chance to break this more than 40-year-old record next Monday when it travels to Helsinki as a guest of the serial jumbo HIFK.

KuPS coach Simo Valakarilla there was enough reason to smile, even though he hadn’t discussed the record readings with his players. He was already pleased with the look of his team’s game.

– It’s a huge number of losing matches, Valakari thought.

– And if you look at the big picture, 27 games will be played in the Veikkausliiga season. In a way, that is over the Veikkausliiga season.

According to Valakari, the team does not believe in winning or losing pipes, but the next game for players is always an opportunity. He wants his players to do things as well as possible, and that gives them a chance.

– Then sometimes afterwards we can see if it was a great pipe then.

Valakari praised: “Best game of the season”

KuPS did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. Tim Vayrynen opened the away goal at the end of the first half and is at the top of the paint market with six hits. Talles Brener de Paula scored the next two goals for the people of Kuopio, and Valakari was especially pleased with them.

– We got to kill that game in a certain way, we haven’t been able to do it so easily in previous matches. In fact, today was probably our best game of the season. A really, really strong performance from our guys, Valakari praised.

According to Valakari, the team was calm and determined with the ball. It defended and squeezed from above just the way the coaching leadership wanted and the players made the right decisions.

The journey home is somewhat lighter

KuPS have now won seven of the eight matches and played one game in a draw. It is at the top of the league with HJK in draws when HJK has one match played more. Valakari is naturally pleased with the results of the early part of the season.

– The start points of the season and the three points scored today will stay with us there until the end of October. That’s why these are important things, Valakari said.

– We all know that we have a lot of things that we can improve every day, but then it’s nice to have moments like this: a great result and a very strong game performance. In a way, the journey home is lighter.
