How do you play The Tribe Must Survive? During the day, as a leader, you are mainly busy building and expanding the base. You assign tasks to your tribe members, such as chopping wood.
In the center of your camp is the campfire, which is best left unextinguished, especially at night. Darkness is dangerous. Dark monsters hide in it – the general mood of the game is reminiscent of the horror of HP Lovecraft.
Fears play a central role in his stories. In The Tribe Must Survive, your tribe members also have individual worries, needs and fears. But also wishes. It is important that they are happy and ultimately survive.
The developers are pursuing a similar goal to Rimworld, which recently received a fourth expansion. There, too, your NPCs are not just a number in the statistics. It should feel painful when you lose a member of your tribe. For example, on one of the nighttime excursions, which are risky but also offer exciting rewards.
This way you can unlock new trade routes or find rare resources. But also dangerous monsters that will simply overrun you or your base.
According to the developers, conflicts will arise within the tribal community over time. Every decision you make as a leader will therefore count. What rituals do you want to perform? What spiritual direction and philosophy do you follow? How can you contain the growing panic when an expedition goes wrong?
The developers promise that there will be unexpected stories to discover in each new round. The world is procedurally generated. Over the course of a round, you also unlock bonuses that you can take with you to the next attempt.
How can I try the game? After a three-month period in Early Access, The Tribe Must Survive has now been released and can be purchased on Steam. It is currently reduced by 20% and costs only 19.99 euros instead of 24.99 euros. The offer is valid until June 6, 2024.
