In a new hero shooter, you can make your opponents grow huge heads and set the Grim Reaper on them

During the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, a new hero shooter was presented that relies on a fast-paced concept with card decks and will also be released on Steam. You can find out more about it here on MeinMMO.

What game is this about? The new hero shooter FragPunk was presented for the first time at the last Xbox Games Showcase. It is being developed by Bad Guitar Studio and is scheduled to enter the closed alpha on June 27, 2024, for which you can register on the official website (via fragpunk.com).

The 5v5 hero shooter will be released in the future on both the Xbox and the PC via Steam.

What awaits you? The trailer gives you a first glimpse into the concept of card decks, which seem to play a big role in FragPunk and could give you the decisive advantage in battle.

The game is played in teams of 5 players each and each round lasts 2.5 minutes. Preparing properly and taking the best cards with you into the round could be the deciding factor. There is not always enough time to think and strategize during the rounds.

10 heroes, 15 weapons and over 70 cards

Beforehand, you choose between 10 different heroes with individual skills, adjust your weapon combinations and choose which cards you will use in battle. In total, you will have 15 weapons and over 70 cards at your disposal.

The trailer gives you a little taste of what is possible with the different cards:

  • Let tall grass grow where you can hide and herbs that muffle your noise.
  • When an enemy’s HP drops below 50%, you unleash a Grim Reaper on them, killing them immediately.
  • Make your opponents grow huge heads and master every headshot.
  • Turns the game world upside down or causes a powerful chain reaction.
  • Easily change the roles of attackers and defenders during an ongoing round.
  • As the trailer suggests, you can only use the cards once per round, as they are destroyed when used. It is not yet clear whether you as a team have to choose three cards that everyone can then use once, or whether each member has their own deck.

However, the promise is that through the use and combination of the different cards, no round is the same and the possibilities for you as a team are varied. Shooter fans seem to be getting their money’s worth this year. In May, a first-person shooter was released on Steam, which has already received many good reviews: In a new first-person shooter, the developers send you into a colorful cartoon world
