This new Netflix series, led by actor Benedict Cumberbatch, can be watched in just a few hours and could bring a lot of tears.

What are we watching this week on Netflix? Among the new features to be discovered soon on the streaming platform, this mini-series in just six episodes should arouse the curiosity of subscribers and perhaps even make them shed a few tears, since this series on mourning and loss follows a destroyed father by the disappearance of her child. In any case, the main performer, particularly appreciated by the public, promises to deliver a new moving performance.

After Sherlock, British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange in the Marvel universe) returns to the serial format for a new dramatic fiction. In Eric, he plays Vincent, a puppeteer on a very popular children’s show in New York. But this father cannot get over the disappearance of his nine-year-old son, Edgar. Consumed by guilt and disgust, he clings to a puppet named Eric, drawn by his little boy. But as Vincent becomes attached to this fictional puppet, he becomes estranged from his family, his colleagues and the investigators who try to help him in his search, and threatens to descend into madness.

In this dramatic thriller which already promises to be moving on paper, Benedict Cumberbatch, actor hailed for his various performances over the years and especially for his incarnation of the Baker Street detective in the BBC adaptation, once again promises to make people talk about him. Facing him, the series created by the successful British showrunner Abi Morgan (to whom we owe in particular Split, The Hour) brings together lesser-known actors in France, namely McKinley Belcher III (Mercy Street), Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts) Gaby Hoffman (Our children’s souls) or Phoebe Nicholls (Starfish).

Made up of only six episodes, each lasting around an hour, Eric can be binge-watched very quickly in just one weekend if you wish, or by taking more time to digest the plot and the actor’s performance. You simply need to have a Netflix subscription to be able to discover it. This drama series is available on the streaming platform from May 30, 2024.
