No more tight looks and short dresses from the 90’s wardrobe, the grandfather likes comfortable, genderless, loose and retro clothing.
Among the most sought-after pieces to adopt the pointy grandpa silhouette, the oversized sweater, the demand for which has doubled in two months. Other nuggets increasingly borrowed from the wardrobes of the elderly: mesh hats (+182%) and corduroy jackets (+29%).
How to wear the grandfather look?
To dress like a grandpa without making a mistake, you absolutely need a cardigan, to wear, if possible, with the It pieces of the moment. Spotted on the catwalks of Dior, Etro and Versace shows during Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2023-2024, it goes easily with a miniskirt and big ankle boots. Same story for the velvet pants. Rather than pairing it with a pair of moccasins and a sleeveless vest, we prefer a pair of low profile sneakers, such as Samba from Adidas, and a two-material teddy jacket. Cool grandpa.
