As every year since 1993, the NGO Portes Ouvert has published the World Index for Persecution of Christians and ranks the 50 countries where they are most persecuted. The 2025 edition, which relates to the previous year, shows that abuses towards Christians because of their faith increases all over the world.
More than 380 million Christians have suffered acts of persecution and discrimination in 2024or 20 million more compared to 2023. There are more and more countries where oppressions towards members of the Christian community increase, especially in Africa. On the occasion of publication of the 2025 indexthe Nigerian pastor Ayuba Matawal made the trip to Paris, as a great witness to the tortures experienced by Christians in his country.
