Do we rehearse your ears every year with the good resolutions? No wonder, since according to a recent survey, 79% of French people consider it an “excellent tradition”. But since the onset of the pandemic, their priorities have changed. On the menu for this new year: sport, travel and a change of professional life.

Carried out for the Gymlib company with 10,602 French people, this survey is no exception to the great classic of January’s good resolutions: playing sports. And the containment measures have in no way weakened this desire. On the contrary, the French are more likely than ever to motivate themselves: if they were 44% to opt for this good resolution at the end of 2019, 51% show their intention to work double to burn themselves from the beginning of the year 2021. To the question “Did confinement make you want to play sports even more?”, Respondents are almost unanimous: 81% answered “yes”.

If eating better continues to occupy second place in the list of things to improve, (38% this year against 36% at the end of 2019), the priorities of the French have changed since the arrival of the pandemic. As 2021 approaches, the desire to sleep better or spend more time with loved ones now comes after the desire to travel more or to change professional horizons. These two criteria are respectively in 3rd and 4th place, with 29% and 28% of the votes.

It remains to be seen whether the extraordinary year that we have just passed through will in any way influence the ability of the French to stick to their good resolutions or not. According to this poll, only 6% of them have fully taken up the challenge in 2020, although 67% say they have “partially” succeeded in reaching the goals they set for themselves.
