Imprisoned Belarusian opposition leader Maria Kolesnikova has been admitted to an intensive care unit, her allies say.

“Maria is in the emergency hospital in Gomel, in the intensive care unit,” writes opposition colleague Viktor Babaryko’s press service.

Maria Kolesnikova, who led the mass protests against President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Belarus in 2020, was sentenced last year to eleven years in prison – despite her denial.
