COTHEN – In the battle against relegation, the Fortissimo handball players have achieved an important victory. The Eredivisionist from Cothen was too strong for direct competitor BFC with 21-18.
Fortissimo climbs from last place to ninth place thanks to the victory. The Cothenians have 5 points from 14 matches. Borhave (15 games), BFC (16 games), and DSVD (16 games) all three also have 5 points.
“It was a chaotic match from the first second. Both teams were very nervous”, coach Ronald van de Kamp looks back on the game. “We should have decided the game much earlier”
Amy Oostveen was well on target for Fortissimo. She accounted for more than half of Cothense’s goal production. “I know I can shoot hard, but you have to do it. I don’t know exactly how many I made,” said Oostveen.

The match went up and down but Fortissimo pulled the longest straw. “I am happy with the battle we have fought. We had just a little more energy and just a little more quality in attack. You get what you are entitled to,” said Van de Kamp.
“We knew this was an important match,” said Oostveen. “It also helped today that the public was allowed to be present again. That was very nice. You then go through the fire a little more than usual.”

Jansen back after long injury
Fortissimo player Maaike Jansen seriously injured her knee in October 2020. “That was the end of handball,” she said after the game with BFC. She made her comeback last week. “I had surgery in January of last year. It’s nice to be back.”
“I still notice that I miss competition rhythm,” said Jansen. “It was a very intensive rehabilitation with short goals each time that you work towards.”
