While the Russia-Ukraine war continues, the echoes of the negotiation talks between the two countries in Istanbul continue. Finally, a remarkable statement came from Russia regarding the negotiations and the results of the talks. The said statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who was in China for the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the countries neighboring Afghanistan.
HOW WERE THE RESULTS OF THE MEETINGS IN ISTANBUL FOR RUSSIA?
Journalists, “How do you evaluate the results of the talks with the Ukrainian side in Istanbul?” Answering the question, Lavrov said, “We see the results of the talks held in Istanbul yesterday as a positive development. This is not the final result yet. “I see the reaffirmation of the Ukrainian negotiators for non-nuclear status and the need to ensure its security outside the NATO framework, as an important advance for our Ukrainian colleagues’ understanding of the issues,” he said.
Asked about his impressions of his meetings with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and other ministers, Lavrov said: “Impressions were positive. In all the meetings held today with the representatives of the participating countries, Afghanistan’s neighbors, our approaches to developments in the international arena were seen and approved. A new reality is emerging. The unipolar world is irrevocably a thing of the past, and a multipolar world is emerging. This is an objective process. It is impossible to stop him. More than one force will rule this reality. It will be necessary to negotiate between all the key states that have a decisive influence on the world economy and politics today. No one in this world should be seen as a minor player. All are equal and sovereign,” he said.
DOES RUSSIA HAVE A LIST OF FRIENDLY COUNTRIES?
A journalist said, “Russia has a list of enemies. Is there a list of friendly countries?” Answering the question briefly, Lavrov replied, “All other countries not included in this list are countries that are friendly to us.”
Despite Russia’s decision not to attack regions such as the capital Kyiv and Chernihiv in Ukraine, US President Joe Biden said, “I can’t say anything until I see their actions. We will see if they will do what they say” and responding to the statement of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, “There is a difference between Russia’s words and actions,” Lavrov said, “If we talk about those whose words are different from their actions, the US said one thing and it is something completely different. I don’t even want to give many examples at the moment he did it,” he said. (UAV)
