Starting Monday and for three days, the coalition called “Taqaddum”, led by former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, brings together the leaders of political parties, resistance committees, associations and unions. It is the most important meeting of the civil front since the start of the war in Sudan. The goal is to unite their voices and put pressure on the belligerents to end the war and propose a democratic alternative.

Eight months after the birth of Taqaddum, the ranks of the coordination of civil forces have grown significantly. More than half of the 600 people present are new arrivals from the 18 states ofSudan and the diaspora from 24 countries around the world.

This shows that Taqqadum is not an elitist organization, it is the most important organization in Sudan which brings together civilians united against the war and the civil front must be strong for its voice to be heard and put pressure on the two combatants and encourage them to choose peace for Sudan “, says Khalid Omar, vice-president of the Sudanese Congress party.

But the leaders of the civil front did not succeed in rallying new political parties like the Northern Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, the Democratic Unionist Party or the Communist Party.

They refused to become members but agreed to send representatives. A positive sign for Khalid Omar: “ This will pave the way for coordination between Taqaddum and these three very important political forces “.

On the program for the three days: the development of an alternative political program for the end of the war. The definition of a precise humanitarian action plan to help the population. And on the last day there will be elections for members of the board of directors and the president of Taqaddum which will determine whether Abdallah Hamdok remains at the head of the movement.
