The pressure was getting too much. Yves Le Masne is no longer the CEO of Orpea, ousted by the group’s board of directors, which met exceptionally this Sunday.
Orpea has been under fire from critics since the publication this week of the investigation-book The Gravediggers. The journalist Victor Castanet publishes numerous testimonies of mistreatment of residents in the nursing homes managed by the group, the consequence of a system focused solely on profitability.
Orpea, which claims to be “ one of the world’s leading players in comprehensive dependency care, with a network of 1,156 establishments for 116,514 beds », contested the chargeswhich he calls ” false, offensive and harmful “. While denying what it describes as allegations, Orpea nevertheless announced on Wednesday the creation of an independent assessment mission.

The leaders of Orpea are expected Tuesday morning at the Minister Delegate for the Autonomy of the Elderly, Brigitte Bourguignon, following a summons from the latter. The Ile-de-France Regional Health Agency has been instructed by the government to conduct an investigation and has launched an inspection in the Orpea group nursing home in Neuilly-sur-Seine, more particularly targeted in the book.
