Nicolas Winding Refn develops new edition of children’s series for BBC and ZDF
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Refn is creating and producing a re-imagined series of the popular children’s book series Five Friends. Enid Blyton’s 21-volume work is incredibly popular and has received awards, among other things radio play series and in the form of several feature films and TV series adapted.
Refn is producing the series for BBC and ZDF, with shooting already underway. The director himself has this to say about the Five Friends new edition:
All my life I have fought vigorously to remain an adventurous child. In reimagining Five Friends, I keep that idea alive by bringing these iconic stories to life for progressive new audiences, and re-imagining the undefinable allure and magic of childhood for present and future generations.
