Is Constantine 2 really coming? The rumor mill is churning, but the project is not really gaining momentum. Even the updates from lead actor Keanu Reeves only give limited hope. Because solid information about the fantasy horror sequel is few and far between. But now there is a new sign of life.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who was already on board for the first part, reveals that after several years, a full version of the script is finished. The story of Constantine 2 has been put into print (or at least a PDF file). Now it can finally begin, right?
Constantine 2 with Keanu Reeves is in the works, but the producer doesn’t dare to read the script
Not quite: As di Bonaventura revealed to Comic Book, the script is in his inbox, but there is still a problem:
But I’m afraid to read it. I want it to be good so badly. I’ll probably read it sometime in the next few days. When I’m on a plane.
Di Bonaventura’s concern is understandable. Constantine 2 has been in development for so long, expectations for the project are correspondingly high. You don’t get the chance every dayto bring back a cult character played by Keanu Reeves. This cannot be just any sequel.
So far, the film is under no time pressure. Constantine 2 has not been officially announced, nor is there a specific start date that the production team must adhere to at all costs. The script can therefore rewritten several times so that everyone involved is satisfied.
In addition to Reeves and di Bonaventura, these participants include director Francis Lawrence, who most recently appeared in Hunger Games Universe Stars like Rachel Weisz, Tilda Swinton and Peter Stormare have also shown themselves open to a return to DC’s fantasy horror universe in the past.
Hotly anticipated sequel with Keanu Reeves: How realistic is Constantine 2 really?
These timid updates may seem tiring at first glance. But we have never been as close as we are now to Constantine 2. Warner Bros. is definitely interested in the sequel. With a bit of nostalgia and a clever story idea, this could be a box office hit. In the end, it will probably be a question of timing: Can the filming be combined with the busy schedules of Reeves and Co.?
