“I’m not going to complain but…”

The World Cup quarter-final between Sweden and Finland was a real thrill.
The huge drama was finally decided in extra time, where Tre Kronor won.
But now Swedish players direct clear criticism after the victory celebration and want to see change.

Tre Kronor had to work really hard to get a break on Finland in the World Cup quarter-finals. The opposing goalkeeper Emil Larmi really excelled and kept a clean sheet for around 55 minutes.

Then succeeded Rasmus Dahlin score the redeeming goal and break the deadlock. But Finland answered with only a minute or so left in the match and the equalizer took the thriller to overtime.

Then it became a direct game in 3 against 3 on the ice, which surprised many of the NHL players. Admittedly, they are used to it from North America, but in a decisive playoff game in a hockey World Cup, it felt extremely strange.
– It’s the first time I’ve been part of it. It’s a little different playing three on three when so much is at stake. Over there (in the NHL) during the season, you lie on half-roll and share the chances. You have to be a little smarter here. It was of course nice that we won, so then I won’t complain about it, says Erik Karlsson to Expressen with a smile.

“Not fun at all”

Tre Kronor then got a huge advantage when Finland went on an expulsion and the Swedes played 4 against 3. Then the decision also came from Joel Eriksson Oak which turned into bluish-yellow euphoria.

Stjärnbacken Victor Hedman also responded that it was strange that the teams didn’t even switch sides with each other before extra time.
– Three against three in a match like this is perhaps not the most fun for ten minutes. Over there (in the NHL) it’s a little different thinking in the series heat. Now it became very much that you didn’t want to lose yourself or give something extra to Finland, but we did fantastically well, he says to the evening newspaper and admits what he thinks that it should be 5 against 5 instead.
– It should be if you change sides in such cases, that is probably above all else. Now you can’t catch some tired players on the ice and go and change. Something can change there, I think.
