Hedman to the WC
But he will play ice hockey for a while longer. The 33-year-old has decided to play the WC for Sweden.
– I am very excited to join Tre Kronor and the WC in the Czech Republic, he says in a clip on Tre Kronor’s account on X, formerly Twitter.

In the Czech Republic, the idea is that the hill will chase new medals.
– I’m hoping for the same result as the last time I played at the WC 2017 in Germany, says Hedman.
That time Tre Kronor won the final against Canada on penalties. Now the World Cup journey begins with the premiere against the USA on May 10.
Strong NHL season
Hedman is coming off a strong season. In 78 games in the regular season, he accounted for 76 points (13 goals and 63 assists) and in the playoffs he scored 7 points (5+1) in 5 games.
– I feel energetic and fresh and have been at a high level all season and feel that I want to continue playing, he tells Aftonbladet.
– We’re also getting a very powerful team, I’m really looking forward to being part of it.
Victor Hedman’s decision to play in the WC means that the national team captain Sam Hallam has 15 NHL players in the squad.
