“I’m going to enjoy it”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s career is over.
Now he reveals the plan in the coming weeks.
– I will think back, he says.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic walked onto the pitch at the San Siro after Serie A’s final round on Sunday. It was already clear that there would be no continuation in Milan, but not many had expected that it would be a definitive departure from football.

Turns off completely

After a more than 20-year professional career, Sweden’s greatest soccer player of all time announced that he had played his very last match. Ibrahimovic was close to tears as he thanked his home supporters in Italian, and everyone who supported him over the years. There has been a lot of speculation in recent months about what Zlatan will actually do after his career ends.

Many have believed that Ibra could move to the coaching side, but following his departure yesterday, Milan coach Stefano Pioli revealed that will not be the case, at least for now. Many have also guessed that Ibrahimovic could become a sporting director or agent, but in such cases time will tell. Zlatan was asked about what happens next on Sunday, and his answer was as clear as it was unclear.

Revealing the plans

Zlatan believes that the next few weeks will only be about enjoying what has been, and really taking in the enormous things he has achieved.

– During the first time waiting, I will think back on everything I have done, understand everything I have done and enjoy what I have done. Just kind of soak it all in and just let it go through and add a smile to it all, he says to the Football Channel.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic found it difficult to point out a single thing he will miss about football, but it is clear that there will be a real adjustment.

– I will miss everything. I mean the dressing room, the pitch, the adrenaline, the emotions, getting to score. All. There is no detail but the whole package.
