Ilves star guard already received another blow to the head

Kasper Koskinen’s tackle on the head of goalkeeper Marek Langhamer became the topic of discussion in the league match between Ilves and TPS on Tuesday night. According to Antti Pennanen, the Czech goalkeeper will not play on Thursday.

Tuesday’s match in the Ice Hockey Championship saw a wild situation when Ilves’ Czech goalkeeper Marek Langhamer got hit in the head again. TPS quadruple chain pier Kasper Koskinen22, skated towards the goal in the situation and hit Langhamer, who blocked the puck.

Langhamer fell to the ice holding his head. It was already the second time in a week, because last Saturday I did JYP Braden Christoffer crashed the check guard in the same way. Christoffer received a six-game suspension for the situation.

Christoffer was not penalized for the situation in the match, but Koskinen received a 5+20-minute penalty for a tackle on the head.

Head coach of TPS Jussi Ahokas was satisfied with his team’s performance under five minutes. He wondered how Langhamer acted in the situation.

– For sure, it hit the head. What I wonder about is that he committed suicide and continued on the field. It surprised me. You hit the head, you have to be punished for that. No two words about it, Ahokas commented at the press conference.

Ilves head coach Antti Pennanen spoke about the player’s responsibility.

– In Jyväskylä, we went towards Langhamer and hit him hard on the head. Again today. Both are pointless. When there is time to dodge, the field player does not have to face the goalkeeper in such a situation, Pennanen commented and continued:

– There is a lot of talk about discipline, judges and the responsibility of our coaches, me and Ahokka. I feel that the players also have a responsibility, how they treat each other, how they accept tackles, how they are ready (for them) and how they also tackle.

Finally, Pennanen said that he doesn’t think Langhamer will play against KalPa on Thursday.

Langhamer, who is playing his second season in Ilves, has been the best goalkeeper in the SM league this season Artyom Zagidulin alongside. Langhamer’s save percentage of 92.64 is the best in the league and the average goals conceded at 1.86 is the second lowest. There are five zero games.

The match ended with a 3–1 victory for Ilves. The 18-year-old finished the winning goal in the final set Samu Baufor whom the hit was the first of his league career.

Ilves were responsible for the other goals with overpowering shots Henrik Haapala and TPS Kalle Väisänen. Lynx Eemeli Finland hit the Final readings into an empty target. The win was the third in a row for Ilves.
