    The mental health of young people is one of the concerns of Public Health France. Prevention actions have been implemented since the first confinement, in 2020. The Agency today notes “the good perception and the effectiveness” of its last prevention campaign.

    One of the positive effects of the Covid-19 pandemic has been the liberation of speech around mental health. Indeed, the confinements and social distancing imposed by the disease have been deleterious to the mental health of young people, especially adolescents, but have also made it easier to talk about it.

    Since 2020, Public Health France has implemented various preventive actions regarding the mental health of young people. In this month of March, it takes stock of its latest prevention campaign and publishes results “which confirm its good perception and its effectiveness in promoting adolescents’ use of Fil Santé Jeunes’ aid and support systems“.

    What is Fil Santé Jeunes?

    Fil Santé Jeunes is a service that listens to young people aged 12 to 25. It offers a listening line at the number 0 800 235 236, accessible 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., with service and anonymous and free calls.

    There is also a website providing information, a forum, a chat, and guidance towards support structures: reception and listening centers, adolescent centres, associative structures, professionals and care. Services provided by professionals such as psychologists, educators, family counsellors, doctors…

    A “very good reception” of the campaign by teenagers

    Dedicated to 11-17 year olds, the campaign, launched in June 2021 and enhanced in 2022, was available in digital content, with the addition of a poster campaign in March 2022. the campaign was very well received by teenagers.

    Among those who recognized the campaign:

    • 93% found it useful;
    • 95% found it encouraged someone to talk to;
    • 82% found that it provided new information, which is much higher than the standard of Public Health France campaigns usually observed on this target (53%, all themes and media combined).

    The campaign also improved the use of the Fil Santé Jeunes system with an increase of:

    • 54% daily visits to the Fil Santé Jeunes website;
    • 48% daily hours of browsing on the Fil Santé Jeunes website
    • 29% of daily chat messages processed for psychological difficulties by Fil Santé Jeunes.

    Finally, overall, campaign recognition has improved significantly with 53% of teenagers recognizing at least one of the campaign materials, compared to 39% in 2021.
