According to Hippos, Iivo Niskanen Oy now owns eight horses.

Finnish skiing star, Olympic champion Iivo Niskanen has been known to be a keen healer since childhood. When he was younger, Niskanen even had a summer job at the track.

In 2017, Niskanen acquired his first proper ownership of a trotting horse, when he bought a third of a warm-blooded trotting horse named Victory Bonsai.

In addition to his skiing career, Niskanen has vigorously promoted his other sport. In 2022, after the ski season, Niskanen passed his trotting driving license and debuted as a trotting instructor at Vieremä’s midsummer trots.

– In skiing jobs, the bar for excitement has started to be high, so if the bar were a little lower now and it really started to get exciting, Niskanen told Urheilu at the time.

The avid healer and horse owner is also an NBA superstar Nikola Jokic.

In May 2024, both Niskanen and Jokic were in Stockholm at the Elitloppet major event.

The Heppa database maintained by Hippos, the central organization for horse sports and breeding, says that Niskanen’s company Iivo Niskanen Oy currently owns eight horses.

Two of them are warmblood stallions born this year. Niskanen said that he has now named his new foals. The names are Pyeongchang and Zhangjiakou.

– This year’s crops got their names. The orphan boys are named after Olympic victories – Zhangjiakou and Pyeongchang. It will be interesting to hear the commentators’ performances, if they become runners, Niskanen reflects.

Niskanen, 32, is a three-time Olympic champion. In Sochi 2014, he won the pair sprint Sami Jauhojärvi with. The personal Olympic golds are from Pyeongchang 2018 (50 km, p) and Beijing 2022 on the slopes of Zhangjiakou (15 km, p).

We’ll see how Niskanen’s still more famous career, his skiing career, continues.
