HIFK striker Iiro Pakarinen has been in an unimaginable scoring streak in the hockey SM league.
The ferocious spirit continued on Saturday, when Pakarinen scored his 20th goal of the season from his parade spot in front of the goal. The KalPa grower is already on a seven-match scoring streak.
Pakarinen’s number of goals would already be hard currency in previous seasons’ goal exchanges. During the three previous seasons, he would always have been in the top ten and once fifth. However, he has only played 19 games after tonight, or less than a third of the season.
Pakarinen belongs to HIFK’s first chain, which holds the top positions in the points exchange. Jori Lehterä has scores 5+29=34, Pakarinen’s powers 20+4=24 and Kristian Vesalainen 11+13=24.
According to Pakarinen, the vibe is born from simple playing.
– We have worked hard and somehow deserved the goals and good game we have played. We have tried to play a fairly simple five-on-five game, but we can also improve it, Pakarinen told Urheilu after Friday’s match.
HIFK leads KalPa 1–0 after the opening set. The match is still in progress.
