Iida Lounela was fourth at the Paris Paralympics in the T12 class for the severely visually impaired in the long jump. Lounela broke its record with a score of 519.

The 20-year-old Lounela made a really even series. He jumped 517 twice and 518 once.

Algerian Lynda Hamri took the bronze with a score of 530 and the silver went to Spain To Sara Martinez with a score of 540. Paralympic gold was taken by Ukraine Oksana Zubkovska with a reading of 578.

– The scale of all emotions was. I was kind of happy with my jumps. On the other hand, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to get a medal. In that sense, the fourth place is a little disappointing, Lounela described.

– In a few long jumps, one leg was a little behind. It left me wondering how long the jumps could have been.

Lounela will next compete in the 200 meter heats on Friday. As far as the long jump is concerned, the outlook is already bright for the future.

– It was already said that in Los (2028, the next Paralympics) I will be a medalist, Lounela stated.

There was also competition in the morning session Henry Manni In the 100 meter wind-up in the T34 class. He was third in his heat, which earned him a direct spot in the final. Manni stopped the clocks at 15:74.

He had set Australia as the benchmark by Rheed McCracken.

However, Manni didn’t quite have time to overtake McCracken, who finished second in the heat. The difference was 0.12 seconds. Manni described that maybe he overdid it in the final stages.

– It was a good feeling. It felt like there could be a good time. Now, that time wasn’t terribly auspicious. It doesn’t matter though. I’m in the finals. It means, Manni said.

Manni said that the preliminary round gave him more confidence thinking about Sunday’s final.

– It’s really cool to reel in front of such a big audience. In the final, the relaxation is kept until the very end. Then we’ll go far, said Manni, who took bronze in the 100 meters in Rio 2016.
