The Fifth Round of the Football Finland Cup was completed on Sunday.
The fifth round of the Finnish Football Cup was played on Sunday, when six Veikkausliiga teams were seen on the green.
The only meeting between Veikkausliiga teams on the match day was seen in Mariehamn, when IFK Mariehamn hosted KuPS. The match ended with a 3–1 victory for the team from Kuopio, which means that IFK Marienhamn’s run in the Taival Cup ended this weekend.
EPS, playing in Espoo Ykkösen, challenged the Veikkausliiga team FC Lahte, when it stretched the match to a penalty shootout. The actual playing time ended with goals 2–2. In the penalty shootout, the team from Lahti was better with 8–7 goals, which gave the team the victory in the match.
In three matches, the Veikkausliiga teams secured their victory against teams playing in lower leagues in regular time. HJK took an overwhelming 5–0 victory over TuPS in Tuusula and FC Inter defeated KTP in Kotka with 5–1 goals. EIF beat PPJ in the match played in Helsinki with a score of 2–1.
Ilves, who celebrated the Cup championship last season, lost their own match of the round on Saturday, which means that this year the champion will change.
The sixth round matches are scheduled for 25-26. June.
