A new booster pack is in the starting blocks in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Unfortunately, any currency that you have collected so far will not benefit you.
On December 17, 2024, the next booster series called “Mythical Island” will appear in Pokémon TCG Pocket. This brings a total of 80 new cards into the game that you can collect from the moment they are released.
While there was only one booster series in the game so far, this is the second booster series. While many players will be very happy, there is already a limitation that could possibly reduce the joy somewhat.

New pack, new pack points
What kind of restriction is this? If you open booster packs, you will receive 5 so-called pack points for each pack you open. You can exchange these for cards from the corresponding booster series and thus receive the cards that you simply do not receive when drawing cards.
It has already been announced in the past that pack points have an expiration date and can only be used for the corresponding cards in a booster series as long as this series is available in the game.
Although the new Mythical Island booster series is only a small expansion (code A1a) and not a major new series (which would be code A2), you still cannot use your previous pack points for cards from the Insert new extension.
These can only be used to exchange cards from the previous booster series, Unbeatable Genes. So you have to collect new pack points for the new booster series if you want to exchange them for cards.
A corresponding note can be found on pokemon-support.com. It says there:
“When you open booster packs of a specific expansion, you will receive pack points for that expansion. These points can only be exchanged for cards included in this expansion. Expansions are sets of cards marked with a single code. The expansion code (e.g. A1, A1a and A2) indicates which cards belong to which booster packs.”
A card from the new booster series seems to be expected by many players. Because it has a powerful attack that could be used to counteract some of the strongest cards in the game: Mew ex will be your counterattack against the strongest cards in the game.
