Do you want to buy an upgrade for your gaming PC? Then wait a few more days, because then you can save a lot of money on hardware.
Depending on the product, upgrades for a gaming PC can be really expensive. If you are now thinking about buying new components with your Christmas money, then you should wait a few more days. Not only were new graphics cards introduced, but prices are expected to drop significantly in the next few days.
AMD announces “special prices”, Nvidia announces new graphics cards for gamers
What about AMD? AMD has introduced new promotional prices for its current 7000 series graphics cards. It is not yet known how much the prices will fall. Many people speculate that you can save between 50 and 100 euros by purchasing one.
However, it will probably take a few days before the new prices reach interested buyers. Because AMD’s campaign must first reach retailers, who should then adjust their prices accordingly. It is therefore quite possible that you will only pay 700 euros for an RX 7900 XT next week: currently prices are between 760 and 810 euros. The 7900 XTX has been falling below the 1,000 euro mark for several weeks now.
AMD also introduced a new graphics card at CES 2024 that could fulfill many gamer wishes. However, we think it is unlikely that the prices for 7600XT will be lower than the RRP upon release.
What about Nvidia? Nvidia is expected to release various super variants of the current 4000 cards in the next few weeks. So far, the new Super models deliver slightly more performance for the same price as the cards without Super. Take a look at the RTX 4070 Super test at GameStar Tech with the corresponding benchmarks.
For interested buyers, this also means that it might be worth waiting for the new cards to be released. Because if you buy an RTX 4080 now, you could also get an RTX 4080 Super in a few weeks for the same price – if the sellers don’t dictate different prices. After all, the days when scalpers sold graphics cards for thousands of euros on eBay are over.
On top of that, it is quite likely that dealers will sell the old GPUs without Super cheaper.
Players who want to upgrade in the next few weeks should therefore benefit in every respect. No matter whether you want to use AMD or Nvidia. Patience could well be worth it in the next few days.
AMD and Nvidia are arguing about the fastest graphics card – but the GPU is not aimed at gamers at all
