Starting the day energetically helps keep the day going. Experts have made suggestions to help you be happier in the morning.

PREPARE YOUR CLOTHES FROM THE NIGHT

Get away from the decision-making phase in the morning by preparing your clothes the night before. Choosing the clothes to wear in the morning takes a lot of your time.

PLAN YOUR DAY AHEAD

Write tomorrow’s schedule tonight. “Doing this will not only save you energy and time the next morning when you know what your priorities are, but it will also help you sleep better as your thoughts are transferred to paper,” says Simon Alexander Ong.

HAVE WATER NEAR YOUR BED

Andrew Harvey says: ‘One way to have a better morning is to have a better night. ‘It’s worth considering how your evening routine affects your health in the morning. For example, do you drink alcohol to “rest” in the evening? This could have a negative effect the next morning.’

“This can be anything from structured exercise to just rocking your body and some music,” says psychologist Dr Tina Mistry. ‘Our bodies have been lying in bed for 7-10 hours, so it could do with a good shake.’

DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE FIRST IN THE MORNING

Andrew adds: ‘What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? If you reach for your cell phone and check messages, social media, or the news, this may not help, and if you’re feeling anxious or down in the morning, it may add to it. Try doing something else for a few days and see what difference it makes.’ Kerry supports this: ‘Don’t check the news or social media for at least an hour. Use time just to be in the moment and not be distracted by others or what’s going on in the world.’
