The new co-op shooter Helldivers 2 is currently very successful on Steam and PS5. The game relies on PvE and does not want to have PvP in the future.

What is Helldivers 2? Helldivers 2 is a co-op shooter for PS5 and PC that was released on February 8, 2024 and was able to collect over 150,000 simultaneously active players on Steam.

    Helldivers 2 does not have PvP

    Who is the person you are talking about? Johan Pilestedt is CEO and game director at Arrowhead, the Swedish development studio behind Helldivers 2.

    What does the boss say about PvP? On X.com (formerly Twitter), Pilestedt commented in a post that the studio was doing its best to make Helldivers 2 a successful game that would last a long time. A user on the social network then said that Helldivers 2 needed PvP to “steal” the CoD players.

    Pilestedt then explained that Arrowhead will not be adding a PvP mode to Helldivers 2 in order to reduce toxic elements. Instead, the studio wants to create an environment that is “supportive and fun.”

    The user subsequently suspected that the developers are afraid to add PvP. But Pilestedt made it clear again: “We are not afraid. We just don’t want the toxicity that comes with it. We make games for people who just want to have a challenging time with friends, but in a PvE environment. If you want PvP, I recommend Tarkov [Anm. d. Red.: Escape from Tarkov].”

    With Escape from Tarkov, Pilestedt recommends an extraction shooter that takes gameplay in a completely different direction than Helldivers 2.

    Tarkov is also known for being a very challenging game, but in contrast to the co-op shooter, it relies on realistic gameplay, a first-person perspective and PvP.
