If you think you’ve already unlocked everything, you’ll have to play the beta again for hours to get a new reward

Blizzard has introduced a new beta for Diablo 4 to put the servers to the test. At the same time, there are also a few new rewards to earn. But they only get those who reach level 20 again.

Another beta will run in Diablo 4 from May 12th to 14th. The servers will be tested during the so-called “Server Slam”. At the same time, Blizzard introduced a new reward for the beta. But if you want that, you have to “play through” the whole beta again.

Why do you have to reach level 20 again? There is a new unique reward for all players who can defeat the world boss Ashava. But you have to reach level 20 for that. Because the new mount trophy Ashava’s Scream will only be unlocked if you defeat Ashava on a level 20 character.

This is what the Ashava’s Scream trophy looks like

That means: If you really want to collect all the rewards for the beta, then you have to level up again to level 20, since all character progress is deleted after each beta (via news.blizzard.com):

All character progression during Early Access and Open Beta will not be carried over to the Slam server. Also, all character progression during the Server Slam will not carry over to the published game.

That should probably surprise few, because Blizzard had already stated that progress from the beta will not be carried over into the final game.

Still, some might find it annoying having to reach level 20 for the third or fourth time to really collect all the rewards. Above all, there are also some who complain that you could have unlocked these rewards right away in the first beta. Some players are annoyed by this “artificial” grind.

There are 4 rewards within the beta

What rewards can all be earned in the beta? Currently (as of April 2023) you can earn a total of 4 rewards in the Diablo 4 Beta:

  • Player Title “First Slain”: Obtained by reaching the city of Kyovashad with one character.
  • Early Explorer Player Title: Obtained by reaching level 20 on a character.
  • Beta Wolf Pack cosmetic item: Earned by reaching level 20 on a character.
  • Mount Trophy Ashava’s Scream: Unlocked when you defeat Ashava on a level 20 character.
  • So you can still earn the three rewards from the first beta if you didn’t reach level 20 there or couldn’t or didn’t want to participate in the beta.
