The German historical series Barbarians revolves around the well-known Varus Battle between the Germanic peoples and the Roman army. If you’re already a fan of Vikings, the Netflix production could be just the thing for you.
Barbarians is a German Netflix production, which is set to music in the original language in German and Latin. The first season was released in 2020. Season 2 followed in October 2022.

The series takes up a historical event with the Battle of Varus, also known as the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest or Battle of Hermann, similar to what the Vikings series did with the semi-historical/mythical figure Ragnar Lothbrok.
The focus is on the conflicts between powerful opponents, which escalate into epic battles and bloody fight scenes, just as happened in the Viking series.
