Sleeping is one of most people’s favorite relaxing activities. However, if you have started to have problems with sleep patterns, you should take precautions as soon as possible. Irregular sleep can weaken the immune system and turn the person into a target for diseases.
No matter how careful you are with your sleep pattern, if you have trouble falling asleep and getting an uninterrupted night’s sleep, the first thing you should do is review what you eat.
Most adults need about six to nine hours of sleep each night to function properly throughout the day.
Going to bed at the same time each night and waking up at the same time in the morning will help maintain a regular routine. Ryan James, a health and nutrition consultant at Vitality, warned that those who have trouble falling asleep should watch what they eat. Stating that heavy meals should not be eaten especially a few times before going to sleep, James said, “If you eat a meal that is difficult to digest before going to bed, if one part of your body wants to sleep, the other part will be in motion to digest that food. Therefore, a comfortable sleep cannot be achieved.” said.
