When words are stronger than weapons

While many players in Baldur’s Gate 3 typically rely on their combat skills and spells to power their way through the adventure, there is another way – the power of words. Because with a high charisma value and especially if you play a bard, you can talk difficult opponents to death with your words, so to speak.

A player named legomanicc89 reports on Reddit about his experiences in the second act of the game. In his first playthrough, the player had created a wizard and was talking to pretty much everyone he met in Faerûn. Still, almost every encounter with a boss resulted in a fight.

But the second playthrough with a School of Knowledge Bard revealed a completely different dynamic. With a Bard you get many special dialogue options and significant bonuses to Charisma-based rolls, making it almost impossible for you to fail.

In the second act of the play he achieved impressive success. He convinced the tax collector (the golden woman) that she no longer had to collect customs duties. Then, according to legomanicc89, she simply dropped dead. However, this was just the beginning of his convincing escapades.

The highlight of his trip was also the conversation with the creepy surgeon. He actually used the bard to convince the doctor to undergo brain surgery himself.

He also visited a tavern and pretended to drink with the bartender while telling him stories of his adventures. This resulted in the bartender literally exploding – a strange but entertaining result.

legomanicc89 praises Baldur’s Gate 3 for the creative options: Completely skipped three tough fights because my Tav is a charismatic bastard. This game is amazing.

Which other classes have high charisma? The Wizard, Warlock and Paladin classes are also based on charisma and are also suitable for outsmarting certain bosses using rhetoric – without any combat.

Overall, his high Charisma score allowed him to easily skip three challenging fights in this run of the game. This unusual approach shows that Baldur’s Gate 3 offers countless ways to overcome challenges, and violence doesn’t always have to be the only solution.
