People who wake up in the morning are very energetic and those who are more calm are divided into two. Those who have trouble getting out of bed do not want to talk to anyone for a while. Although this situation is generally thought to be a characteristic feature, waking up difficult every morning can be a sign of risky diseases. General Surgeon Dr. Instructor Member Nihat Polat explained that people who wake up hard in the morning, have disturbed sleep patterns and forget important events may have thyroid disease.
ATTENTION TO THESE SYMPTOMS!
Stating that thyroid diseases occur with disorders in the secretion pattern of thyroid hormones and changes in the size of the gland, General Surgery Specialist Dr. Instructor Nihat Polat, its member, said, “If you can’t wake up in the morning, if your sleep pattern is disturbed, if you forget important events, if your hair is falling out, if your skin is dry, if you suddenly gained or lost weight, if you feel like you’re going to faint at any moment, if your fingernails and toenails are bruised in the cold, you may also have thyroid disease.” said.
THYROIDS ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR OUR HEALTH
General Surgeon Dr. Instructor Member Nihat Polat said that thyroid diseases occur with the disorder in the secretion of thyroid hormones and changes in the size of the gland. Dr. Instructor Member Polat stated that the thyroid gland controls the energy levels of our body and when there is any problem in its function, our health will be adversely affected. Polat said, “The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that is located between the larynx and collarbone and hangs around the trachea. This gland regulates metabolism and body temperature, helps control energy sources in the body, works with all systems in our body, keeps the brain always active, keeps the intestines in motion, ensures regular menstrual cycle, ensures healthy nails and hair.
TYPES AND SYMPTOMS OF THYROID DISEASES
Dr. Instructor Member Nihat Polat listed the main thyroid diseases as follows:
Hyperthyroidism: It is the thyroid gland secreting more than normal hormones. Its symptoms are manifested by complaints such as rapid heartbeat, palpitations, excessive appetite and weight loss despite eating, irritability, restlessness, trembling in the hands, sweating, and hair loss.
Hypothyroidism: It is the underproduction and secretion of thyroid gland secretion. Complaints such as heaviness, weakness, fatigue, forgetfulness, water retention and weight gain in the body, dryness of the skin, hoarseness, constipation, menstrual irregularity occur in the movements of the person.
Thyroiditis: Inflammation of the thyroid gland for various reasons is called thyroiditis. It begins with fever, chills, chills and palpitations. The thyroid gland is enlarged, hot and tender. The patient cannot throw his head back. There may be difficulty in eating and swelling of the lymph nodes. Inflammation in the thyroid gland causes an abscess, and the skin over the thyroid gland may turn red.”
APPLY TO THE DOCTOR WITHOUT WASTE OF TIME
Talking about the diagnosis process, Dr. Instructor Member Polat said, “The measurement of free T3, free T4 and TSH hormones in the patient’s blood gives information about the functioning of the thyroid gland. T4 and T3 hormones below or above the normal limit indicate that the thyroid gland is not working well. Thyroid ultrasound is used to understand the size of the thyroid gland and whether it contains nodules, and thyroid scintigraphy (film) is used to understand whether the nodule is hot or cold. Scintigraphy is applied only to patients with nodules and low TSH. Thyroid fine-needle aspiration biopsy is performed to determine whether the nodules are cancerous. According to the biopsy result, it is decided whether to apply medication or surgery. People who experience the above-mentioned complaints should consult a specialist physician without wasting time. Early diagnosis of thyroid diseases plays a major role in achieving success in treatment. It should not be forgotten that untreated or late-diagnosed thyroid diseases can lead to much bigger health problems in the future.
