In The First Descendant, you want to cause as much damage as possible with your descendants so that a boss can be defeated as quickly as possible. A YouTuber now explains: The damage per second that you do with a weapon is related to your FPS.
What kind of theory is that? YouTuber “Ryechews Games” explained in a new video that the damage you do per second is related to your FPS (frames per second).
He says that if you have more FPS, the actual rate of fire of your weapon is higher than if you have fewer FPS. The rate of fire that is shown to you in the inventory for a weapon is therefore not always completely correct. According to the YouTuber, the assault rifle “Thunder Cage” had a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute for him, instead of the stated 660.
The YouTuber dares to do a test with a submachine gun and calculates that the difference between 40 FPS and 144 FPS is a whopping 25%. You can find the video with the theory here:
Is the theory correct? Yes, we also did a little test and found that the rate of fire changes with higher FPS. For our test, we chose a machine gun with a fairly low rate of fire of 571 rounds per minute and 108 rounds in the magazine.
A higher rate of fire automatically means more damage per second, as more bullets hit your opponent per second.
More DPS for you, but also more damage for your opponents
What is the disadvantage? The video from Ryechews Games also made it to The First Descendant subreddit, where one player says that high FPS also has a downside: According to him, not only do you deal more damage, you also take more damage (via Reddit). Other users confirm this finding.
We haven’t yet tested whether you really get more damage from incoming fire.
Does this happen in other games? Yes, many players write on Reddit that the phenomenon also exists in other games, including Destiny 2. In Bungie’s loot shooter, players are also said to take more damage if they have more FPS.
It’s a similar situation in the MMORPG Black Desert. There, too, the FPS is said to have an impact on the damage. So The First Descendant is not alone in this.
If you want to get even more damage out of your FPS and your firearms in The First Descendant, we can recommend a build for the descendant Gley, where your magazine is never empty. More on MeinMMO: The First Descendant Gley Build: This way you never run out of ammo
