Shopping at Apoteket is something most Swedes have done at some point in their lives. There are currently around 1,400 outpatient pharmacies in Sweden, and most of them have a high turnover as basically all people at some point in their lives need to pick up medicines.

The pharmacy offers, among other things, medicines for large and small, selected health products and services for private individuals, healthcare, companies and organizations. In other words, there is quite a lot of everything related to body and bud.
Many pharmacies also offer drop-in vaccinations where you can get vaccines for TBE, shingles, HPV, influenza, pneumococcal, chicken pox, tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough and before travelling.

If you work in an Apoteket store, a large part of your working day may involve handing out prescription medicine to customers who have had it prescribed by their doctor. But can you, as an employee, deny a customer their medication?
News24 contacted Apoteket to ask about the whole thing.
Apoteket: Then we can deny a customer medicine
The pharmacy replies that yes, they can deny customers their medicine in very specific circumstances.
– If it concerns prescription purchases, a pharmaceutical assessment is always made when the prescription is dispatched. For example, a prescription purchase may be denied if not enough time has passed since the previous withdrawal.

– If you are aiming for over-the-counter purchases, there is no formally regulated age limit for buying over-the-counter medicines at Apoteket. At pharmacy representatives and at Apoteket.se, the 18-year age limit applies to all over-the-counter medicines.

– In order to reduce the risk of incorrect use of Paracetamol among young people, the members of the Swedish Pharmacy Association have reached an industry agreement on this responsible sale.
