“If they go to the finals”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Sweden has so far been a great success in the handball WC.
A winning ingredient has definitely been Tommy Körberg’s magnificent “Stad i ljus”.
And now the popular artist comes with a beautiful promise to the Swedish national handball team ahead of tonight’s World Cup quarter-final against Egypt.

The Handball World Cup on home soil has become a pure success story for the Swedish national team. In six matches, there have been six straight victories and Sweden has impressed tremendously with its road-winning game throughout the championship.

Sweden’s song

But now it begins in earnest. The group stage and the main round were quite a mouthful for our undefeated national team in Blue and Yellow and now it’s time to start chasing medals.

Egypt, who are admittedly difficult to beat, will be first in line in the World Cup quarter-finals in Stockholm on Wednesday evening. Until now, Sweden has only played matches in Gothenburg and alongside the success on the pitch, part of the recipe for victory has also been the song “The city in light”.

“Very nice”

To the tune of Tommy Körberg’s grandiose classics, Sweden has received powerful frames for all matches. The hall has been switched off, mobile lights have been switched on and players together with thousands of spectators have sung at the top of their lungs.

It has simply become like a second national anthem and has accompanied Sweden throughout the championship.
– It’s really nice that you get to participate in such contexts as well, says Körberg himself to Radiosporten.
– It’s a nice setting, it’s even the case that the players think it’s fun.

Körberg’s promise

If Sweden’s success continues, Tommy Körberg now makes a powerful promise to all blue-yellow players.
– If they go to the final, I will come there and sing, he promises in the interview.

But it won’t be an easy road to the WC final, which will be played in Stockholm this weekend. Körberg believes that it can be tough already tonight against Egypt.
– It will be tight, they are heavy and tough there. We have had a hard time with them before, says the popular artist.
