Glenn Hysén has a lot to thank Sven-Göran Eriksson for.
Which he now does in a heartwarming tribute to the coaching icon.
After “Svenni’s” cancer announcement, Hysén eases his thoughts and touches us all.
Almost a year ago, the news came that the legendary coach Sven-Göran Eriksson is taking a break from all his missions due to an unknown illness. Recently, the 75-year-old himself revealed that it is cancer and that he has at best a year left to live.
Svenni’s cancer
The cancer announcement has attracted a lot of support throughout the football world and lots of greetings have poured in to show “Svennis” how much he has meant as a coach in all his clubs and national teams. One who has a lot to thank Sven-Göran for is the Swedish centre-back icon Glenn Hysen. He had Eriksson as a coach in both IFK Göteborg and Fiorentina and now opens up his heart to pay tribute to his good friend in the finest way.
Hysén’s tribute
For the two-time Ballon d’Or winner, the coaching icon has meant everything. And now shows his great gratitude by posting a picture, see below, and the following words on Facebook.
“Had Svennis not come to Blåvitt, I would never have lifted this trophy (the English league title). He told me not to dribble or make difficult passes, because you can’t. Slide tackle, nod the ball away and fight, and it will be SHIT. Thank you Svennis. Have a good time. Glenn”, writes Glenn together with the picture of when he won the English league with Liverpool.

The beautiful tribute has received over 18,000 likes on Facebook and all Swedes are touched by the nice words about Svennis, see the picture below.
“Respect for this comment,” writes one user.
“When Svennis speaks, you listen,” writes another.
“There is wisdom for life outside the football field in those words. Without being the best at what most people want to be the best at, with the right people in your life you can find a place where you develop into a star,” writes a third.
